Time flies when you're having fun and we've been having fun since 1986. Back in the days of bad hairstyles, pastel clothing and the birth of rave music, Tempest Car Hire opened our doors for business to take on the car rental big guns. We saw a gap and went for it: The market needed a car rental provider who was super economical and offered personalised service with a smile. And our clients have been smiling ever since, after all, who can resist great rates, new cars and world class service?

The success of this small little fox terrier of a company was noticed by the heavies and we got snapped up as a really valuable proposition by the Imperial Holdings Group in 1991. This was a pretty cool move as it enabled us to expand our infrastructure and gain accessibility to a much larger fleet pool to service our expanding client base. Did we mention that we are now SA's fifth largest car rental company? Yip, we've become a heavy but still offer that same personalised service while keeping our rates economical.

We ain't no wild cowboys, Tempest are members of SAVRALA (South African Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association) and maintain the strict code of conduct necessary for members of the Association.

Small guys but with a heart of gold. We have recently adopted the Donaldson Primary School in Soweto, firmly believing that apart from a business presence in Soweto (two branches), we are committed to helping and joining the community. Other social responsibility projects include sponsorship of Easterns Junior Cricket whose mission is to provide cricket players from all sectors of the community the opportunity to develop and play cricket at the highest level in both summer and winter leagues. Additionally we provide complimentary vehicle support to many charities, schools and private individuals across the country.
