Dreamfields - What soccer dreams are made of!
Tempest Car Hire is proud to announce its partnership with Dreamfields, a partnership which is about making a difference in
the everyday lives of young South Africans.
In a pilot project launched this month. Tempest
Car Hire together with its airline partner,
Mango, made soccer dreams come true for two Schools in Soweto: Donaldson Senior Primary and Rutegang Primary.
The schools spirits were high and there was a chorus of vuvuzela's as Janita Edwards,
Marketing & Sales Director, Tempest Car Hire and Nico Bezuidenhout, CEO Mango Airlines,
officially handed over the DreamBags to the respective schools.
A DreamBag includes 5 soccer balls, 15 pairs of boots and 15 sets of kit,
including numbered shirts, shorts and socks. In other words, it is everything you need to start a new team or to
make one that's up and running feel like they can take on the world, comments Edwards.
"Dreamfields is about an investment in communities, giving learners the opportunity
to succeed and become great sports achievers and this long-term CSI imitative means a great deal to Tempest
Car Hire,
as we get involved with the community and encourage learners to play sport"
The 'friendly rival' match raised huge enthusiasm from the local community and
spectators flocked to the field to watch as the U12's battle it out for victory. The first goal was scored by
Rutegang Primary - Laduma! And fellow supporters ran onto the field in support. It was soon afterwards,
the Donaldson Senior Primary player sporting number three on his jersey took no prisoners and he lined the
ball up perfectly and followed suit with another goal.
In the end, although the spectators were disappointed with a draw, hearts were
alight with the passion for playing ball.
Together with Mango, a further fourteen schools will be identified in the
Soweto region and we will be sponsoring them all with kits. As tournaments are encouraged to build social
cohesion in a community it was decided to roll out this CSI initiative region by region. As soccer fever grows we
aim to roll out nationally and we encourage our employees to identify schools with soccer needs with the aim to
benefit South Africa's urban and rural poor.
Having a partner in this initiative suggests that as a Tempest
Car Hire school is identified
a friendly rival Mango team will follow suit. As such, creating an infrastructure which will allow for the
possibility of tournaments and training clinics.
